When Christians hear about Passover, Tabernacles, or the other biblical feasts, the first thought is often, “Aren’t those Jewish holidays?” Yet in Leviticus 23, God calls them the Feasts of the Lord. These appointed times were established to teach His people about redemption, repentance, provision, and restoration, and each one ultimately points to Jesus.
What God established in the Old Testament, He fulfilled in the New. While Christians are not required to observe the feasts, understanding them can deepen our faith and help us stand in greater awe of God’s perfect timing.
I recently had a craving for molasses - which is super random - because molasses is not something I normally use or ever crave. But all of a sudden I wanted to take a big tablespoon of it. Weird!
I tend to pay attention to left-field cravings like that. Not in an I-want-chips craving kind of way, but like hmmmm, molasses??? There’s got to be something to this.
Turns out that molasses actually has some nutritive value and, historically, molasses was used medicinally during times of:
fatigue
anemia
heavy menstrual cycles
postpartum recovery
muscle cramps
adrenal depletion
This got me thinking about other traditional sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, and dates/date (often used in biblical times) and how these are God-given foods - not only for pleasure and delight, but in some cases, for healing, nourishment, and support.

I just got back from a wonderful week in Florida. I spent the first four days in Panama City Beach on a mom/son trip with my oldest (that was his graduation present last year and we finally made it happen). In a few weeks I’m moving my first born to college 😭. As we start preparing to move him into the dorm, there are some things beyond the standard laundry bag and towels that I want him to take. I thought I would share a few of the less conventional things on this list (cue weird mom alert. 🚨)
I’ve been on two cruises in my life - one through the British Virgin Islands and the one I just finished through Alaska. Both were incredible. Although completely different experiences, I think a very common experience for many people coming off a cruise is feeling overstuffed, underslept and generally kind of blech. This can be true of just about any vacation. It’s not uncommon to “need a vacation after your vacation” and have the strong urge to diet or detox when you get home. Even though I keep it fairly reined in when I go on vacation, I definitely indulge more, sleep less and am exposed to lots more toxins no matter how mindful I am. I always feel the need to recalibrate and get back on track - as I do now coming off 11 days in Alaska. I thought I would share some of my cruise prep and my post-cruise detox in case you find yourself in this kind of situation.
