91: Introduction to Homeopathy with Lori Satterwhite, MS, FNTP

Have you ever seen homeopathic remedies at your pharmacy or grocery store and bought them because they seem more natural and crunchy? Yeah, me too.

I’ve bought homeopathic remedies from brands like Hyland’s and Boiron to tackle cold or flu symptoms for my family, but I can’t say I’ve really looked into the mechanisms of how they work or why they may be a better option. I’ve always been interested to learn more so in this week’s podcast we’re learning together!

My guest is Lori Satterwhite, FNTP, who uses homeopathy as a tool in her private nutrition practice and with her own family. She shares how homeopathy helped her daughter overcome multiple years of strep throat (and helped prevent a tonsillectomy) and also helped save her son’s cracked tooth from being removed. She gives practical tips (like a homeopathic alternative to gatorade) and interesting insight into the use of these more natural remedies.

89: Confessions of a Food Catholic with Pastor Doug Wilson

You don’t see a lot of pastors weighing in on food but this one has seen it come between too many relationships to leave it unaddressed. In fact, he wrote an entire book about the unscriptural approach to food and how Christians often let food dogma and righteousness rule over a heart for relationship.

This was particularly edifying for me as a health professional but also as a mom trying to balance health and sanity when it comes to family food choices. Pastor Doug talks about “boutique allergies,” Phood Pharisees, and the most important thing to have at the dinner table.

86: Drainage Before Detox

You’re probably familiar with the concept of Detoxification but are you familiar with the concept of Drainage? Detox is what’s going on in the body to grab and process the toxins and drainage is what takes them out of the body. If the drainage pathways aren’t open and the toxins can’t get out, then they will recirculate, become more toxic and make you more sick.

Drainage MUST come before any detoxification protocol.

85: 6 Thoughts That Lead to Yo-Yo Dieting

In this week’s podcast I’m explaining the most common thoughts that lead to yo-yo dieting and overeating. Here’s one:

I messed that up so……

That thought leads to a feeling of failure which leads to an action of - might as well eat all the things and start over Monday.

Sound familiar? It makes no rational sense. We’re like - I want to be healthier and I want to lose weight but I ate this one “bad” meal so I’m going to eat my face off for the next 3 days.

Your body can handle a night out with chips, queso and margaritas. What it can’t handle is the chips, queso, margaritas and the 3 days of binging after it. But that’s what we do. It’s why mind work is SO important.

What if you chose to eat the chips, queso and margaritas because you were out with your girlfriends and that’s what you wanted to do? And you did it without judgement on yourself? You choose it on purpose, you enjoy it and that’s that. You move on and you’re not a failure.

It’s alllllll about the way that you’re thinking and it’s why you must “take captive” the thoughts that do not serve you.
