198: The Benefits of Eating Real Wheat with Sue Becker, Part 1
After 10+ years of being gluten-free, I recently experimented with eating bread made with freshly milled, organic wheat. This is different from wheat flour you buy in the store which has been stripped of key nutrients and, as this week’s guest explains, is the real reason so many people cannot tolerate wheat. When you grind it yourself and bake it fresh, it retains an extremely high nutrient profile including B vitamins, Vitamin E, beneficial fiber and more.
After educating people for over 30 years on the benefits of milling, baking and eating real wheat, Sue Becker has seen miraculous turnarounds in people’s health and believes a major contribution to modern illness and disease started with the mass processing of flour in the early 1900’s.
In this week’s episode, Sue explains how modernly processed wheat (which basically leaves only the gluten and the starch) is the true culprit but that eating wheat with the fullness of its nutrients intact is one of the most healing foods God provides.
It was enough to convince me to try it! Come listen to this episode which may give you a completely new outlook on including REAL wheat in your diet.

197: The Benefits of a Full Body Ultrasound with Todd Turner, RVT
I recently had an extensive body ultrasound after some “hot spots” came back on my thermography scan. It picked up some inflammation in my neck area and I wasn’t sure if it was my carotid artery, thyroid or something else. I had only planned on having the ultrasound scan on my neck but took the advice to have a more extensive look. I’m SO glad I did! He looked at my heart, breasts, kidneys, adrenals, pancreas, spleen, intestines and so much more. Turns out my carotid artery is fine, my thyroid is ok, but there are a few other things he found that I wouldn’t know about had I not done the full body scan. It was a very interesting and eye opening experience and part of what made it so great was my brilliant technician and all of the little tidbits he shared during the 1.5 hour appointment. He’s on the podcast this week to share his knowledge and talk through some of my results. I think you’ll find this fascinating!

195: Winter to Spring Detox
Seasonal transitions are the perfect time for a detox. The winter to spring transition, in particular, naturally encourages fasting, burning fat and releasing toxins. Winter is a higher fat and protein focused (more animal based) season of the year because there’s less plant life available when it’s freezing outside. It’s also a more natural time to fast longer because the daytime is shorter. That will change on the other side of spring when the plants are growing and it’s naturally a time for more carbohydrates and less fasting because there is more light.
This all coincides beautifully with the season of Lent. Nature mirrors the physical way we move through this starker season before the new growth, light and life of spring in the same way we spiritually move toward the light and life of our resurrected Savior.
Listen to this week’s podcast to consider and prepare for the way YOU want to physically and spiritually move through the seasonal transition.

193: Metabolic Water
This week’s episode is about something that nobody really talks about in the conventional OR functional health world, is relatively new in the scientific world and is probably YEARS away from being part of the conversation in the mainstream health world. But once you know and understand the impact of the concept, you can’t ignore it as one of the biggest missing pieces of the health puzzle.
God made our bodies with a special kind of water inside the cell that acts like a powerful battery. The better you make and take care of this water - the less you’re going to get sick, the better you’re going to maintain optimal weight and the more energy you’re going to have to go about your day. People who struggle with low energy and overeating could benefit enormously by understanding and taking advantage of the battery-like power of our metabolic water.
Listen in to hear about - what may be cutting edge science - but is one of the most profound ways God made our body to maintain order and health.

191: The Right Way To Hydrate with Carly Stagg, FNP
Bet you didn’t know there’s a wrong way to hydrate but there is. I’m a little cringey when I hear people say they drink a gallon of water a day (made popular recently by the 75 Hard Challenge). There is a thing as TOO much water and, for most people, a gallon is too much. It can flush out the minerals you need for your body to be able to actually get water into the cell so you can be hydrated (not to mention you’ll be peeing your brains out!). The goal is hydration - not a certain amount of water.
In this week’s podcast episode, Carly and I are talking about:
The minerals you need for proper hydration
Our favorite electrolytes and other “nutritious fluids”
The best filtering options for water
Come listen and refine your water goals to ensure you’re actually getting hydrated!

190: Growing Your Capacity
While you’re growing your muscle capacity and protein capacity this New Year, let’s work on growing your capacity to believe that you are capable and worthy of the things God is calling you to. I’ve struggled with Imposter Syndrome for over 10 years and nobody talks about it enough. It’s that voice inside your head that says - Who Do You Think You Are?
It usually comes with big dreams and goals and is one of the biggest barriers to stepping into your God-given purpose and gifts.
In this week’s podcast episode we’re talking about the beauty (and pain) of growing your capacity and overcoming limiting beliefs. The new year is the perfect time to believe that He can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. 🙏❤️
